Folic Acid Receptors And Lung Cancer

Folic acid receptors are members of the folic receptor gene family and they have a great affinity to high levels of folic acid. The presence of folic acid helps the human body in many ways including resistance to certain diseases and conditions. The connection between cancer and folic acid is very complicated and scientific researches suggest that folic acid does help in fighting lung cancer.

Folic acid plays a large role in the construction, repair and maintenance of the DNA in the body. If a person has deficiency of the folic acid, then the DNA may be damaged leading to cancer. If a person works on improving the folic acid levels in the body, then many kinds of cancer like esophageal, stomach, intestinal and lung cancer can be avoided. There are some scientific researches that suggest that folic acid may promote the growth of the tumors which could be fatal for some kind of cancer patients. There is no conclusive study that says for sure that folic acid is good for cancer patients or not.

Diets that are high in folic acid have known to help lung cancer patients as they found increased resistance and could fight the disease with more resistance. They appeared stronger after consuming a diet that is rich in folic acid. It could be that the damaged cells due to cancer are being rebuilt at a faster pace because of folic acid.

The significance of folic acid receptors and lung cancer is still under the research phase and a definitive conclusion is yet to be reached.
