| There are all kinds of baby formulas. Some of them comes are even ready to feed without requiring preparation. After you open up baby’s formula, it must be refrigerated and used within the next forty eight hours. Generally, ready to feed formulas are a little more expensive than other type of formulas like concentrated or powder formulas. |
Concentrated formula usually comes in 13 oz cans. Dilute one ounce of water with one ounce of concentrated formula before feeding. Powder formulas are usually the cheapest of all formulas. If you want to use them, mix two ounces of water with a scoop of formula.
When you are shopping for baby formulas, you should also look at amount per serving. Cans of the same size do not always make the same amount of feeding formula. Furthermore, avoid buying low iron formulas. They do not have enough nutrients for the baby.
Is It Okay To Use Warm Tap water For Infant Formula?
Depending on where you live, sterilized bottles and boiling tap water may not be necessary. However, if you are not sure about the quality of your tap water supply, it is best to boil the water at least five minutes before preparing the formula. Contaminated water can risk your baby to diarrhea and other infections.
Some formula can bed prepared with cold water, but you still needs to make sure that the water is clean. If you need to warm up the formula, do not do it with microwave. Microwave can cause hot spots in the bottle that may burn your baby.
