Signs of Miscarriage
The first sign of miscarriage is blood spots. Although many will tell you the spotting is a part and parcel of pregnancy but if you notice any blood spots do not take it lightly. Immediately call your doctor and give him or her all the details. Never wear a tampon when blood spotting takes place. You can cause an infection. Always wear a sanitary pad.
If you suddenly start suffering from abdominal cramps immediately visit your doctor. You will first have an ultrasound to determine whether the fetus is okay. If your condition does not improve, you will end up having a second ultrasound. A point to remember is that if the heartbeat of the fetus or embryo is audible then the chances of miscarriage are very low. However, if the ultrasound shows an empty sac or an erupted ovum, you have unfortunately had a miscarriage. But if the sac is not visible then you are less than 7 weeks pregnant.
When you have a miscarriage, you will have menstrual-like cramps along with bleeding for nearly one to two weeks. You should use a sanitary pad and should avoid sex, swimming and any vaginal medications. Have complete bed rest until the bleeding stops completely. Sometimes when women miscarry, they suffer from nausea, vomiting and diarrhea.
Make sure you visit your doctor who will give you an internal vaginal examination to ensure that all the tissue has passed out through your body.
